Tuesday, November 11, Road Ride, 6:30 pm, Full Moon Bike Ride in Danville, 15 miles/level B/pace 2/hills B

Full moon night bike ride in November over familiar roads. We did this ride in October and had a blast. The air is crisp and the sky very dark. At night the familiar takes on unfamiliar shapes and images. If you never have done a night ride before, this ride is for you. Come and experience it. This fun ride is suitable for both road and mountain bikes.
Musts: In order to participate in this ride, in addition to the helmet requirement, you must have a working head light and flashing tail light. Make sure your batteries are fresh and lights bright. Safety through visibility. Bring money for an after ride adult beverage or food stop. Co-listed with Hikanbyke.

Start: Parking lot of Oak Hills Park recreation building on Stone Valley Road, Danville at 6:30 PM for 6:45 PM departure. From either direction take Hwy 680, exit Stone Valley Rd going east. Oak Hill Park on right just before high school. Rain or serious threat of rain cancels. Call leader if in doubt. David Weiner, Cell: 925-382-3381.

Saturday, November 15, Road Ride, 10:00 am, Vacaville-Lake Berryessa Loop, 55 miles/pace 2/level C/hills D

OK, summer and killer heat are over and most of the boaters are staying home, but we’re all still strong from a long biking season, so let’s get out for this challenging but beautiful ride. We’ll start at the Lagoon Valley Park just before Vacaville, then head toward Fairfield, up through Wooden Valley and Moscowitz Corner. We’ll climb Cardiac Hill (sounds worse than it is, but it is a long climb), followed by a wonderful descent past Lake Berryessa and the Glory Hole. A final cruise down Pleasants Valley Rd. brings us back to the start. Bring food and snacks to sustain you. In the past there have been both a small market and a restaurant at Moscowitz Corner, but businesses come and go in this area. Rain cancels. Threat of rain, call ride leader.

Start: Lagoon Valley Park, Vacaville. Take Hwy 80 east. Exit at Pena Adobe Rd. At the stop sign, go straight thru the intersection and into the park and circle to the right to the parking lot by the lake. The good news is that there are restrooms here at the park - the bad news is there is a $3.00 charge per vehicle for entrance to the park so bring money to put in the envelope. Or you can park on the street outside the park and then cycle in for the meeting spot and restrooms. Pat Downs 510-295-3842, Chris Ganser 510-393-8593

Sunday, November 16, Road Ride, 10:00 am, Paradise Loop from Larkspur Ferry, 24 miles/2 hours/pace 2/level B/hills C

We’ll start at the Larkspur Ferry Terminal and head thru Corte Madera and Seminary Dr, stop in Tiburon for a quick rest, then around Paradise Drive and back to the Ferry Terminal. Starting in Larkspur we eek out a few more miles than the standard ride. THEN we get to go to Marin Brewing for burgers and beer. Rain cancels; threat of rain call leader.

Start: Larkspur Ferry Terminal, the end of Row N, across the street from the pedestrian walkway over Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Hwy. 101 to Sir Francis Drake exit. Head east about 1/4 mile. Turn right at the first stop light into the Larkspur Ferry Terminal area. Turn left at the first entrance into the parking lot. Turn left again and head back toward Sir Francis Drake Blvd. until you come to Row N. Turn right. Park in Row N or O as close to the ferry landing as you can. Saturday, November 22, Road Ride, 9:30 am, Wildcat Canyon/Oakland Hills Loop, 35 miles/level C/pace 3/hills D

We’ll have a somewhat challenging hill up Wildcat Canyon for some great views from Grizzly Peak, taking us to Skyline Blvd in the Oakland Hills. The ride could be cut short by taking the first road down the Pinehurst loop. We can stop in Orinda at the end for a late lunch. There are a couple of water/restroom stops on the way. Bring a snack to sustain you on the way with all those hills!

Start: Orinda BART. From West: H/W 24, take Orinda exit, take a left, but stay in right lane to exit freeway onto Camino Sobrante. Almost immediately, take a right into Bart entrance, follow road round and go over bridge to the West side parking lot. From East: H/W 24, take the Orinda off ramp, 2nd exit and loop around onto Camino Sobrante. Take Bart entrance on right and park in the West parking lot. Trish Hewison (925) 284-9164, Cell (510) 386-5883

Sunday, November 23, Road Ride, 10:00 am PROMPT, Mines Road, 50 miles/4.5 hours/pace 1/level B/hills D

Mines Road is a lovely scenic place to ride. No water or toilets at ride start, and no water or food along the way, so come prepared. We plan on lunch and rest at the roadhouse at the junction of San Antonio Valley Road and Del Puerto Road. This is a simple out-and-back, so pick your pace, and distance. I lead from the rear, so just cruise & enjoy the scenery. Great climbs too.

Start: Meet at the junction of Mines Road and the spur that goes to Del Valle Reservoir. Take 580 EAST to Livermore. Take the North Livermore Avenue exit; head SOUTH, and stay on North Livermore Ave. for a mile or so. North Livermore Avenue becomes Tesla Road; at the Stone Ridge Winery make a RIGHT onto Mines Road toward Del Valle Regional Park. Stay on Mines Road for another couple of miles (2-3), then bear left at the intersection with Del Valle Road. There is a wide shoulder about 100 yards to the right of the intersection for parking. Helen Herzberg (510) 537-9109

Saturday, November 29, Road Ride, 10:00 am, Yountville-Howell Mountain-Pope Valley Loop, 45 miles/level B/pace 2/hills D

Starting in Yountville, we’ll head across the valley and up Silverado to Howell Mtn Road. Here is the only “hills D” part of today’s ride. Howell Mtn. from the Silverado side is beautiful and secluded with almost no traffic. Once over the mountain, we have a wonderful spin down Pope Valley Road and back to Yountville, where we can gather for a beverage and a meal. Bring water and snacks to sustain you on the ride because there are no stores open in this area on Saturdays. Rain cancels.

Start: Yountville Park. Take Hwy 29 north, exit on Madison for one block, then left on Washington to park on the left. Jan & Jeanne Bush (707) 939-2912; cell (707) 529-8550

Start: Moore’s Landing, Napa River. From Marin: Take Hwy 37 to Hwy 121. Follow Hwy 121/12 east toward Napa. Turn right at Cuttings Wharf Rd. From the East Bay take Hwy. 29. Turn west onto Hwy 121/12.
